New asylum applications and re-examinations: an analysis of options available to Afghan citizens currently in Switzerland

In 2020 alone, the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM), the authority responsible for granting asylum and temporary admission, processed 2,143 asylum cases involving Afghan citizens; asylum was granted in only 351 of those cases.
